Job Description

GenomeWeb is seeking an editorial intern to work in our New York City newsroom and assist with the daily production of our real-time online scientific news service. The ideal candidate will have a scientific reporting background and an interest in writing for a highly specialized industry audience.

In this position, you will write short news items based on primary source material such as scientific papers and patent abstracts and press releases. Candidates that demonstrate a solid understanding of our content and editorial standards will have the opportunity to pitch stories and contribute bylined articles.

This position is open immediately and pays $15/hour.

Requirements:

• Completed or working toward a degree in journalism or related subject. Candidates with a scientific degree and strong writing skills will be considered.
• Available to work 20 hours a week
• Based in NYC
• Excellent grammar skills
• Familiarity with AP style
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
