Job Description

SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:
We offer 12-week paid internships working as reporting interns for metro, photo, sports, interactive and design teams. Starting in May/June through August/September.

Arts & Culture Reporting intern: We seek an ambitious writer with a broad love of arts and culture in the Bay Area to write for our arts sections. The applicant must have strong writing and reporting skills, a lively sense of what’s happening on the Bay Area arts scene, both above and below the radar, and strong working knowledge of digital storytelling and social media.

Business intern: We look for excellence in writing, reporting and news judgment. The ideal candidate can not only chase breaking news but generate their own story ideas, particularly in the areas of business and technology. We look for writers who have worked on campus or other professional publications, know AP Style and are adept at reading SEC filings and other corporate reports.

Interactive graphics/design intern: We’re looking for an energetic design candidate with some illustration and info-graphic skills. This intern will help generate ideas and work in a team atmosphere to create well-organized pages that look visually stunning. Candidates should have experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, digital skills are a plus.

Metro Reporting intern: We look for excellence in writing, reporting and news judgment. The ideal candidate can not only chase breaking news but generate their own story ideas. We look for writers who have worked on campus or other professional publications, know AP Style and are adept at using social media.

Photography Intern: San Francisco Chronicle photo interns are responsible for taking photographs and videos for use in The San Francisco Chronicle and its electronic editions. You will cover a variety of news, features, portrait and sports assignments in the Bay Area. In print, photos will be used individually. In electronic editions, photos will be used in slideshows, videos, and other multimedia productions. You will be responsible for taking photographs, initial editing, writing AP Style captions and some reporting. Applicants should have prior internship experience and proficiency in video production is preferred.

OTHER:
The San Francisco Chronicle does not offer housing or relocation stipends.
