Job Description

The Contributing Editor, Best Buy Drug Safety is focused on providing continuous editorial coverage on the topic of drug safety for CRO. He or she has command of the topic, expert contacts, is vigorously in pursuit of news, news analysis and service journalism stories both generated by CR data and outside of CR; writes and edits reports and content for multiple media formats. Works with Deputy editor and other top editors to deliver drug safety content that resonates deeply with consumers and their needs.

This is a part-time (approx. 20 hours per weeK) Limited Duration Role, expected to last through the end of January 2018. During that year, candidates will be an employee of the organization and receive benefits.

*Focused on drug safety, he or she researches, reports and writes editorial content primarily for ConsumerReports.org as well as Consumer Reports Health and other Consumer Reports publications, and contributing, as needed, to the editorial activities of the Best Buy Drugs AG grant.
*Coordinates with both internal and external experts to review articles; works with fact-checking and legal when necessary.
*Monitors daily national drug safety news and drug safety reports, panels, and other outside activities; work is informed by those as well.
*Meets routinely with CR Policy and Mobilization staff on drug safety issues; captures their work and reports and writes related stories for CRO in One CR fashion.
*Attends Washington D.C. based conferences, panel discussions or other related external activities in the area of drug safety.
*Provides daily pitches of drug safety story ideas to top editors.
*Performs other duties as assigned.

College degree and at least five years of experience as a medical/health care reporter, writer and/or editor with at least some of that devoted to the area of drug safety. Demonstrated expertise in covering prescription drug developments and issues. Familiarity with online data bases and skills in using evaluation feedback to revise and update program activities. Excellent organizational skills, including proven ability to adapt to a dynamic fast-paced project environment and manage multiple activities.

Physical Demands: Normal physical requirements associated with working in an office environment and prolonged computer use.
