Media Organization: Social Documentary Network/ZEKE magazine
Social Documentary Network (SDN) and ZEKE magazine
SDN and ZEKE give voice to an international community of documentary photographers and visual storytellers who are creating compelling visual stories about a wide range of global issues. Since SDN was founded in 2008, our website has mosted more than 2,000 exhibits from all parts of the world on hundreds of diverse themes. We have organized physical exhibitions of this work that has traveled to locations in the US and internationally. In 2015 SDN launched ZEKE: The Magazine of Global Documentary to provide a print and digital presentation of the best work from the SDN website. Issues covered in past issues of ZEKE include the South Caucasus, gender identity, the migration crisis, water scarcity, the Bangladesh garment industry, the war in Syria, and other themes of global concern.
ZEKE: The Magazine of Global Documentary is seeking writers for the upcoming fall issue.

Our format is to have three documentary feature articles and 2-3 other articles about issues related to documentary and journalism. Each documentary feature is accompanied by an original article of 1000 words exploring the issue in greater depth. Past issues have been on the rise of nationalism in Russia, Iran by Iranians, maternal health in Africa and Haiti, the stateless Rohingya, the forgotten Caucasus, and many others. For a full list of past articles with links to the digital versions, see: www.zekemagazine.com
We do not yet know what the features and articles will be for the fall issue but by June 1, we will have made a decision and will want to begin assigning articles to writers. We will generally allow 4-5 weeks for the first draft.
We are unable to offer payment but your work will be published in both the print and digital versions of ZEKE magazine, which is distributed across the US and internationally.
