Launched by Bloomberg Philanthropies in April 2015, What Works Cities is a national initiative to help 100 mid-sized American cities enhance their use of data and evidence to improve services, inform local decision-making, and engage residents. We are the nation’s most comprehensive philanthropic initiative helping local leaders identify and invest in what works. In 2016, What Works Cities was named by Forbes as “one of the ten most promising philanthropic bets” of the year and by Engaging Local Government Leaders as the “most important company operating in the local government arena.”

Job Description

The What Works Cities team at Results for America is seeking an intern to support the communications team as they carry out the work of identifying and publicly amplifying success stories of the initiative and building a movement of cities across the country committed to governing using “what works” practices.

Intern Requirement and Qualifications

Candidates should have completed their junior year of an undergraduate degree program in a related field of study, such as communications, literature, journalism, PR and marketing, etc.; graduate students also encouraged to apply
Excellent writing, verbal, and listening skills
Excellent research skills
Keen attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, etc.)
Experiencing using CMSs (particularly WordPress) a plus
Experience using digital asset managers a plus
Experience monitoring and/or creating content for organizational social media accounts a plus
