The WIRE is owned by its founding editor and publisher whose full-time job is to be Roosevelt Island's doctor. While his time has always been as a volunteer, his successors have generated enough income to have The WIRE as their only job. The WIRE has many loyal advertisers.

Job Description

The Main Street WIRE, Roosevelt Island's community newspaper, has been in continuous semi-weekly publication since 1981. It has a history of vigorous community activism and serves as the glue that holds the community together. Our third editor (he has served for 21 years) is retiring and we are looking for his successor.
