Job Description
We're looking for a reporter, editor, and people manager to lead the charge at Eater New York. This individual should excel in a fast-paced environment, have a broad knowledge of the New York dining and food scene, and be able to write quickly, accurately, and in a confident voice. The reporter will be responsible for breaking original news and overseeing all other members of the Eater New York staff.
Responsibilities
Lead, inspire, and organize the Eater New York team to greatness
Perpetuate the highest standards of journalism, including original and reported news on the Eater New York home page
Write the highest profile news coverage, as well as longer-form original maps and guides
Promote content via social channels, a daily newsletter, and other professional connections
Maintain a wide network of sources both inside and outside major New York restaurant brands
Collaborate with other Eater teams as needed
Requirements
Experience writing and editing news content
Excellent organizational skills, focus, and the ability to work independently
Demonstrated excellence as a people manager
Social media prowess, particularly with Facebook and Twitter
A passion for and knowledge of the New York restaurant scene
A working knowledge of photo editing, photography, and familiarity with content management systems
A competitive streak — you delight in scooping the competition
A critical, seasoned editorial eye for storytelling in any medium
Impeccable grammar and attention to detail with an eye toward clean copy
