Job Description
Stereogum is seeking Editorial Interns for Spring 2017.
The Stereogum Editorial Internship is an exclusive program that accepts a small number of applicants each semester. The program is open to students currently enrolled in journalism and/or creative writing programs who are able to receive academic credit for their involvement. Interns will work out of Stereogum’s offices in midtown Manhattan.
The internship offered here is multifaceted. The right applicant will be involved with all aspects of the site’s editorial and production process, which includes (but is not limited to): assisting writers and editors with research, transcription, and reporting; assembling posts in the site’s admin; curating photo galleries; setting up video and audio streams; vetting new artists for coverage; assisting in curation and assembly of live events; and of course writing for Stereogum.
The right applicant will be highly ambitious and deeply plugged into new music, with goals to work in music journalism and/or the field of music. He or she should be a skilled writer with some web background as well as social media savvy.
Stereogum Editorial Interns are expected to work two (2) full days per week; schedules are flexible, however, and will be based on both parties’ needs and availability. Editorial Interns should have access to a laptop.
To Apply
Deadline for applications is Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Please email your application to intern@stereogum.com. All applicants must be able to receive academic credit for the internship.
Interested applicants should send a resume, writing sample and cover letter. Please include in the cover letter some reasonably detailed description of your musical tastes (your 10 favorite albums of 2016, perhaps, or 10 artists you’d like to see featured on Stereogum, or just a paragraph on your passion for music and fields of expertise).
