Job Description

A staff position based in the USA reporting to the Editor in London fact-checking, copy editing and rewriting content for the US edition of The Day. Content may be originated in or outside the USA so it may need different levels of editing.

Responsibilities
Being fully immersed in US and international current affairs, reading and researching widely and applying a keen, questioning, philosophical intelligence to the big underlying issues of the day. Providing daily ideas for stories and features to the Editor. Attending up to one daily meeting on Skype to discuss ideas. Being on call permanently if required to help with big breaking news stories. Editing with utmost clarity and good style daily and delivering publication-ready content to exacting deadlines. Taking a lively interest in the broader mission of the company to change the world for the better and contributing ideas and energy to that effort.

Skills & experience
A top level degree or equivalent, a very wide field of knowledge, an engaging personality and a proven ability to think clearly and interestingly. The most important skill is the ability to edit swiftly to deadlines.
