Via News is focused primarily on one thing: Reporting on that which is not.

Rather than dedicating headline after headline to the actions of American presidents or elections in the UK, Via News is an outlet devoted to reporting the news that is often ignored. In other terms, Via focuses our reporting primarily on the Global South and issues in developing countries.

We’re trying to take a different approach to news. We want to report on not only what influences geopolitics, but on what influences people, regardless of where they live. To put it simply, we are replacing the headlines.

Job Description

We are looking for a contributor to write several articles a week on an array of underreported topics. Ideally, the writer will have a background or interest in South Asian or Latin American Affairs. Expertise in other topics or regions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

An interest in underreported issues and regions is a necessity.

We hope to work with an individual looking to expand their writing portfolio and have an eagerness to be part of a small, but passionate young team hoping to make a difference in the world of journalism.

The writer will produce at least two articles a week on topics relating to underreported stories or regions.

Vested equity will be available. As funding becomes more readily accessible, the contributor will be paid by the article.

This is an unpaid position.
