Job Description
GenomeWeb is looking for a full-time reporter to cover the intersection of science, technology, and business in genomics and related fields. The position is based in our New York City office, but we will consider remote candidates if they meet the requirements of the job and have a track record covering news in the life sciences industry.
Responsibilities
Writing daily science and business news briefs and several feature articles per month, as well as reporting from scientific conferences and trade shows throughout the year. Topics will include genome sequencing, single-cell genomics, spatial biology, and in vitro diagnostics, among others.
Qualifications
Ability to produce news briefs under tight deadlines, juggle multiple assignments, learn quickly about new technologies in depth, and develop sources in academia, government, and industry.
Excellent communication and reporting skills are essential, as are attention to detail and familiarity with genomics and related areas.
Familiar with reporting genetics and genomics, biotechnology, and molecular diagnostics.
Preferences
Ability to cover business, financial, and legal news is a plus
This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay
