Job Description

Reporter / Researcher for Yomiuri Shimbun New York Bureau

Job Description: Main duties involve research and reporting to assist the Yomiuri's New York Bureau Chief and other Japanese correspondents stationed in New York. In the coming months, stories related to the 2024 election and coverage of legal cases involving election disputes and former President Trump’s criminal cases will be one focus. Work includes covering press briefings, tracking relevant stories, arranging and conducting interviews, doing research, coming up with story ideas, etc. The person hired will also do reporting covering news and features in other areas, including social issues, cultural coverage, the United Nations, sports, and breaking news.
Since articles are in Japanese, there are no byline opportunities in this position.

Applicants must be prepared to work occasional overtime and travel. Some prior journalism experience at college newspaper or other publication is preferred
