The Role
We’re looking for an editorial intern to contribute part-time to Payload’s newsletter and website for the fall. This individual will primarily contribute to the newsletter by curating aggregated content for the bottom-half sections of the newsletter. They may also occasionally contribute short articles to the daily newsletter. We’re a small team, so we’re looking for a self-starter who plays nicely with a tight-knit newsroom and is eager to dive into the space beat.

Salary: $20/hr. This is a part-time position (5-10 hours/week). You'll always be able to work remotely anywhere in the United States.

In this role, you will:
Curate the aggregated newsletter sections, including a weekly schedule of space events, hiring announcements, funding news, contract awards, and top stories for each week
Pitch the managing editor on newsletter stories and write as they’re assigned

We’re looking for someone who:
Pays close attention to detail and checks facts meticulously, as the aggregation includes a lot of names and numbers
Is studying journalism or a related field, or is an early-career reporter
Has an interest in or knowledge of space, politics, or business. Space background is not required, but an eagerness to quickly get up to speed and be part of the team is a must.
