Job Description

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assigns news coverage/handles logistics of moving news crews. Gathers and researches story ideas through beat calls, reading wire services, newspapers, and magazines. Demonstrates news judgment in selecting and or recommending stories. Assigns stories to reporters in an organized and timely manner. Maintains communication with all personnel involved with newscast. Informs assignment editors on other shifts to maintain continuity and keep the desk running smoothly. Update stories on our website. Will be trained on video camera and maybe sent to shoot assignments if necessary. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that works well with co-workers, supervisors and customers. Will be trained to write stories, ingest video, edit video and will be trained to produce and produce wheels. REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience College degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field and knowledge of electronic news operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Television news experience a plus. Good oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, news judgment, computer skills, ability to make decisions and work under pressure. Operate various office machines including computer and office software. Thorough knowledge of operation and office policies and procedures. Must have ability to handle various tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines.
