The Hurriyet Daily News is Turkey's most influential English-language daily. It's a member of the Doğan Media Group, Turkey's largest, and one of the largest publishing conglomerates in Europe.

Doğan owns seven daily newspapers, three national TV channels, more than two dozen magazines and one of Turkey's top book publishers. It also runs the 600-employee Doğan News Agency.

The Istanbul-based Daily News maintains full-time bureaus in the Turkish cities of Ankara, Antalya and Izmir, and in Washington, D.C.

Job Description

You'll spend one summer month, from June 23-July 21, 2011, working as a part-time reporter at Turkey’s oldest English-language daily http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/

You'll be assigned by the editors; receive the assistance of an interpreter; and produce stories under the joint supervision of Daily News editors and ieiMedia faculty.

This internship runs in conjunction with The Istanbul Project http://ieimedia.com/blog/the-istanbul-project a taught program in foreign reporting in Istanbul. Interns stay in program accommodations, and are welcome, though not obligated, to attend all classes and program activities. They also receive reporting guidance, and any other necessary assistance, from program faculty.
