Job Description

We seek an accomplished journalist/writer to provide timely, smartly written analyses and summaries
of the most important legal news stories of the day, from court rulings and government enforcement
actions to high-profile litigation. The successful candidate must have excellent news judgment,
familiarity and deep interest in legal subjects, and the ability to write about often-complex issues in a
clear, concise, and sophisticated manner.
This is not an entry-level position. To be considered, you must provide a writing sample, preferably
with a legally analytical, but conversational tone, with your application. Please also provide a cover
letter with your salary expectations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 Provide smart, compelling summaries and analyses of important and interesting legal news
stories.
 Add voice, context, and analytical insight to breaking news stories.
 Work with editors to determine the range and scope of coverage areas and the frequency and
means of delivery.

Qualifications
 Bachelor's degree required.
 Training in law or legal journalism strongly preferred.
 At least three years prior experience writing about law or related topics.
 Experience with aggregation, legal blogging or other conversationally analytical writing a plus.
 Ability to comprehend and write smartly about a range of topics of interest to the legal
community.
 Familiarity with web-based publishing platforms and multi-media preferred.
 Demonstrated ability to meet challenging deadlines.
 Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
