Job Description

Overview:

The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate or agency Financial PR, Corporate Communications, or Financial Journalism. They will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and capable of engaging in high level dialogue with senior executives. Ability to build strong relationships with the business, with journalists and within the global communications team.

The role will include the pro-active handling of Media Relations inquiries for BlackRock. Maintaining clear, strong and appropriate communication with journalists having established a thorough understanding of BlackRock’s business, its products and capabilities.

The candidate will also be able to manage day-to-day support requests with PR agencies, and liaise with the EMEA and Asia Pacific corporate media relations teams where appropriate. In addition, the candidate will be able to provide support to position BlackRock’s business or personnel appropriately and help develop and execute initiatives, as directed.

Knowledge of financial media is essential. Strategic and creative thinking required. A willingness to work, at all times appropriate to the demands of the business. For the purposes of attending events, a level of client interaction outside normal office hours is required.

Duties:

•Work closely with the media relations team to plan and conduct media relations activities that build greater knowledge and recognition of the firm’s investment management professionals and of its broad mix of top-performing retail and institutional investment products/services.

•Maintain the process for tracking the division’s media relations activities and for the reporting on those activities to corporate communications in NY and other units of the firm as necessary.

•Support the planning and implementation of media events, roundtables, press conferences and journalist events.

•Support the handling of all media enquiries in a timely and efficient manner, as directed.

•Develop and maintain strong day-to-day working relationships with news media (print/broadcast) including business/financial media, investment management industry and financial advisory “trade” publications, as directed.

•In particular, target the core list of journalists/opinion leading media, and create and maintain a process for regular outreach to these media to propose story ideas and sources that reinforce a favorable profile for the division and its professionals, as directed

•Coordinate the distribution of a full range of written materials including press releases, by-lined articles, and reports related to the division’s activities, as directed.
