Job Description
The editorial internship is intensely hands-on, and a number of previous interns have been hired as full-time employees. You will be publishing stories, photos, polls and other multimedia extras; writing blog posts; working on social media outreach; and coordinating with reporters, editors and others to keep fresh content flowing to the site. You may also be assigned to write stories and assist with breaking news. You will also assist in the production of longer-term multimedia projects. Previous projects have included multi-part articles, a special report on Alzheimer's and a comprehensive voters' guide. Interns may also be assigned to work specifically on the Long Island news section of the site, or Towns (community journalism), Sports, Entertainment or ExploreLI (our local destination and event-based section). Editorial interns report to Newsday's Melville office and must receive school credit.
