Journalism Internship
Media Organization: Africa.com
Company Description
We are a broad-based content site that spans a great number of categories, including travel, finance, news, and arts and culture. All of our content focuses on the continent of Africa.
Job Description
Africa.com is looking for journalistically-minded editorial interns to help create and update content on our finance, news, and travel and culture sections. We are re-launching these sections with a combined aggregate and proprietary content strategy: we're looking for interns to help research headlines about Africa in the news, to write original introductions to said news stories, and to contribute original posts to our finance, news, and travel and culture blogs.
This position is ideal for students looking to learn more about how to manage news at an online media outlet, and is especially ideal for those who are interested in Africa from any and all perspectives, whether it's social enterprise and philanthropy to foreign affairs to fashion and music. We are looking for interns who are self-enterprising, eager to learn about content management in both WordPress and proprietary environments, and who are interested in working in a rich environment in which self-penned pieces are heartily welcomed.
Familiarity with creating video content is a plus, although not required.
This internship can begin immediately (not for credit) or at the beginning of the summer of 2012. Spring 2012 interns in good standing will be considered for extension through the summer. Summer internships begin on June 1st, with flexibility. Africa.com internships are unpaid and can be credited, and stipends will be considered on an individual basis. Internships take place at our head office in New York City. Learn more about our company at www.africa.com.
