China Economic Review is a monthly magazine published in Hong Kong covering business, finance and economics in China. It has been published since 1990. We publish a comprehensive package of original reporting, commentary and analysis for the discerning business reader with an interest in China's economic affairs.

Our reporting has won recognition from the Society of Publishers in Asia. Our columnists include veteran analysts and observers like Philip Bowring, Kenneth DeWoskin, Frank Ching, Tom Doctoroff and Paul French.

Job Description

China Economic Review, a monthly magazine, is looking for Summer interns in its Shanghai office.

Responsibilities:
-Writing daily news briefs.
-Pitching stories and possibly writing for China Economic Review and related SinoMedia publications.
-Miscellaneous research, fact-checking, photo-finding, transcribing and editing tasks.
-Interns may optionally be involved in social media, infographics and podcasts and should specify those interests in their application.

We offer training seminars on topics including story pitching, fact-checking, photo selection, AP style and research throughout the program.

This is a unique opportunity for those interested in business journalism and China. As a publication that heavily involved in news analysis, we seek to leave interns with a better ability to think critically about the news. CER staffers have gone on to work at publications including Dow Jones, Reuters and the Financial Times.

Ideal candidates will be self-starters able to work independently with a strong writing ability and interest in news, economics and finance. Experience writing for college media or past editorial internships preferred but not required. Both full-time and part-time opportunities available with a minimum duration of three months. Stipends may be available for full-time positions based on the strength of the candidate. Interns would start in June with some flexibility for the right candidates.
