Job Description

AOL On is seeking a hard-working editorial intern for a full-time paid internship position in our New York office. This person will work closely with the our Programming Managers on research, content curation, video playlists, editorial planning topical pages and idea generation. Our interns don’t get us coffee – they curate and generate compelling, engaging and relevant content that over 50M eyeballs consume on a daily basis. Note: This is not a role with heavy writing or original content production.
The ideal candidate will have some concrete experience with editorial work, content management, social media and researching from a previous media internship or school newspaper experience. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a fast-paced, quickly growing site in its beginning stages and make a measurable difference as a part of a dedicated and passionate team.
All candidates should absolutely LOVE web video and be obsessed with the great wide Internet in general – we’re looking for News and Entertainment junkies, Lifestyle enthusiasts and people who are active – not just present – online. Strong advantage for bloggers and active, social users who have an eye for must-see content. Are you the one always calling out new memes and hilarious videos to your friends before they make the rounds? Could you write a thesis on the Kardashians? Do you know and read every tech or style blog under the sun? If so, your place may be with us!

Responsibilities
·Research topics for video packaging based on our editorial calendar
·Pitch ideas in editorial and planning meetings
·Create and manage playlists for our various lifestyle, news and entertainment verticals in accordance with current events and our editorial calendar
·Create and manage supplemental social content to accompany our video offerings, from blog posts to Facebook, Twitter, newsletters and beyond
·Obsessively track relevant blogs and sites within your assigned verticals in order to identify trends and events that we can use to leverage video

Requirements
·Previous experience in an editorial role at a school newspaper, or other internship at a magazine or website. Blogging and editorial background a huge plus
·Overall eagerness and enthusiasm – your internship is what you bring to the table and what you make of it!
·Must be comfortable with the fast-paced, dynamic atmosphere of online publishing
·Experience with an array of social media platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Pinterest
·Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or have graduated within the past 6 months
