Job Description
PolicyMic needs a talented copy editor to start immediately, working on a special editorial and politics project full-time for six weeks from our New York office.
We’re looking for passionate and detail-oriented copy editors with a background in journalism. The copy editor will be working on an exciting multi-week editorial project that features some of the biggest names in politics, media, health care, and technology. Editors will be responsible for editing a high volume of submissions, managing comments, and providing help with social media.
Candidates must have journalism experience, an interest in politics, be eager to work on a weekend schedule, be comfortable reviewing a high volume of submissions, and be experienced at using social media platforms.
This is a paid job in our New York City office and we are looking to hire immediately.
Responsibilities:
+ Copy edit, fact check, and publish special political content
+ Manage PolicyMic’s comment stream for the special project
+ Assist in social media
Requirements:
+ Available to work full-time during the six-week period, including three weekends
+ Previous editing/copy-editing experience
+ Comfort with the fast pace of internet publishing
+ Familiarity with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc)
+ A passion for PolicyMic’s mission, journalism, and politics
