Job Description

The Assistant Editor, Third-Party Content, is responsible for coordinating, editing and publishing articles from a large cross-section of legal industry experts. This includes searching for potential articles/authors, reviewing article pitches, corresponding with attorneys and PR firms, executing publishing contracts, scheduling and managing articles in a custom content management system, and editing articles for in-house and AP style.

Third-party content is written by regularly scheduled authors, as well as commissioned by topic. We also review unsolicited article pitches on an ongoing basis. Article topics are practice- or industry-specific, analytical, and written with a business audience in mind.

While a certain amount of administrative work will be required, the position will be ideal for someone interested in future work as a copyeditor.

Required for consideration:
-Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or related field; graduate degree preferred
-Copyediting experience and firm grasp of AP Style
-MS Word, Excel, Google Apps knowledge
-Interest in pursuing a job in copyediting
-Knowledge of legal industry a plus

Law360 offers extensive training on legal topics. Business or legal reporting experience is not required. However, professional reporting experience and strong writing and analytical skills are required to succeed in this job.
