Media Organization: Mother Jones Magazine

Company Description

Mother Jones is a nonprofit news organization that specializes in investigative, political, and social justice reporting. We currently have two main "platforms": an award-winning bimonthly national magazine (circulation 240,000), and a website featuring new, original reporting 24-7.

Job Description

We have approximately 3 days of work for a talented junior producer in New York City.

We are looking for a Chinese speaker with competent Final Cut Pro skills (and editorial chops!) to help with a preliminary sweep through about a dozen interviews in Chinese, providing the first—but crucial—clean-up edit, leaving us with tidy video cuts to send to our translator. All of the good stuff: in. All of the useless stuff: out.

Fine print: It's a confidential project, and we may need the producer to sign a simple non-disclosure agreement before taking the work. We sadly admit that smallish budget of around 150/day is very modest, but we anticipate this could turn into a few more engagements on the project for the right person; we will negotiate an appropriate credit for when the work finally goes to air/print. The work will be at our office in the Flatiron district, or if the producer has FCP, we can be flexible.

To Apply

We're interested in hearing a little about your experience working with Final Cut Pro and any relevant work experience. If you think a short resume will help, send one along! But it's not compulsory. If you are from China, we'd love to know from where! Email James West at jwest@motherjones.com.
