Saudi Aramco, the oil company born as an international enterprise 75 years ago, distributes Saudi Aramco World to increase cross-cultural understanding. The bimonthly magazine's goal is to broaden knowledge of the cultures, history and geography of the Arab and Muslim worlds and their connections with the West. Saudi Aramco World is distributed without charge, upon request, to interested readers worldwide.

In print, Saudi Aramco World is published six times a year: January/February (JF); March/April (MA); May/June (MJ); July/August (JA); September/October (SO) and November/December (ND). From its launch in 1949 until the May/June 2000 issue, the magazine's name was Aramco World. The July/August 2000 issue was the first to carry the name Saudi Aramco World .

Saudi Aramco World is published in Houston, Texas by Aramco Services Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. This website is updated following each issue of the print edition.

Job Description

This professional position is assigned as one of two Assistant Editors for Saudi Aramco World magazine.

Duties & Responsibilities:
-Assist and, as qualified, lead production of features and departments in print and digital editions
-Collaborate in the creative direction and editing of article concept, scope, research, visuals, design and copy
-Support digital, multilingual, multimedia and mobile publishing development
-Carry out online visual research
-Assist in Digital Asset Management and archiving of print and electronic assets
-Provide copy editing and proofreading
-Act as coach and production guide to global freelance contributors
-Check facts
-Track and project costs
-Assist and, as able, lead in report writing, presentation preparation
-Handle other departmental and company projects as assigned
-Travel to conferences in the publishing, magazine and Middle East educational fields
-Produce original writing, photography and/or multimedia content as assigned
-Attend printer color and press checks to ensure quality standards are met

Education and Experience:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Communications, Master’s Degree in communication’s preferred
-Five (5) years broad journalism experience with magazines and/or news media, in print and online
-Two (2) years broad editing experience, in print and online
-Knowledge or demonstrable interest in global Arab and Islamic cultures through heritage, travel, study or all three preferred
-Must have outstanding command of English and visual literacy
-Strong intercultural communication skills
-Knowledge of print production and pre-press processes and standards preferred
-Must have strong electronic interpersonal communication skills, work habits, work ethic, ability to adhere to company work hours, company policies and standard business etiquette
-Must have the ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to Windows/MS Office workstation, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; scanners, fax machine
-Familiarity with current and emerging multiplatform media technology
