Job Description

Gannett Government Media is seeking an aggressive, experienced national security reporter who wants to be part of a team covering some of the biggest stories in the world today. We're looking for someone who has professionally reported and written stories that meet the highest standards for accuracy, fairness, thoroughness and interest.

The ideal candidate must be able to write three to five stories per week, file news briefs and contribute to cover story rotation as required, as well as file multiple stories per week for the website.

Some assignments include difficult, austere and potentially dangerous working/living conditions. Development of a wide net of sources.

The reporter must be able and willing to travel with members of the military in physically demanding environments that may include such things as hiking in wilderness environments and sleeping on the ground in a wide variety of climates. The reporter must be able to carry his/her own equipment on such trips including backpack, sleeping bag, food, etc.
