Job Description

The investigative journalist team at BioPharm Insight (BPI) is looking for an editor to lead the North American group. This is a great opportunity to break news on this highly dynamic industry and uncover key situations that impact and inform how our industry readers do business.

BPI is an online news service that provides forward-looking intel and analysis on biopharmaceutical R&D.

The Editor, North America works closely with a team of investigative journalists and editorial analysts to ensure timely and thorough coverage of all key, upcoming drug development situations and a steady stream of important scoops. The person will also work with the Editor, EMEA and Editor in Chief to monitor ongoing coverage and shape editorial strategy over the long-term.

Being the first to accurately report and provide critical insight on key developments must be central to your work philosophy. The intricacies of drug development must be a passion. At BPI, we strictly focus on analyzing upcoming situations and do not react to company press releases. You will be responsible for developing story angles and editing articles daily on time- and price-sensitive situations in the biopharmaceutical industry.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of editing experience, several years under his/her belt as a science journalist and a strong understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry, from the science of developing drugs to business strategy to regulatory and legal aspects of the sector. Previous experience on a daily publication that focuses on drug R&D preferred.

THE ROLE
--Maintain the publication’s high standards for in-depth analysis, rigorous investigative journalism and being the first to report
--Thorough and quick edits on highly complex stories that combine drug R&D, regulatory nuances, market uptake, pricing/reimbursement and litigation
--Continued training of reporters and analysts
--Collaborate with London team of reporters and analysts
--Develop regular reports
--Aid with analytics on coverage and the competitive landscape
--Coordinate stories with sister publications
--Collaborate with other departments including sales, CRM and marketing
--Attend healthcare and investor conferences
