Job Description

Serve as an integral part of NDI’s external communications team;
Create and edit content for NDI website and Institute social media accounts;
Draft press releases and advisories;
Coordinate press outreach for Institute events;
Liaise with NDI regional and functional teams to provide communications guidance and training;
Assist with congressional outreach;
Manage Institute contact lists and distribution of materials;
Write and design e-newsletters and other email communications;
Monitor information sources, including traditional media, blogs, and social networking and reference websites, for topics related to NDI’s work;
Take and edit photos of events, and edit and organize photos from field offices;
Shoot and edit short promotional and instructional videos;
Work with NDI teams to design brochures, event invitations, infographics and other materials; and.
Manage the team’s intern.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, digital media, graphic design, or related course of study; international relations a plus;
Excellent writing and graphic design skills;
Minimum two to four years of communications experience; Two years of overall experience required for the senior program assistant position; Four years of overall experience required for the program officer position;
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, use independent judgment and follow-through with minimal supervision;
Ability to work under pressure;
Knowledge of Congress preferred;
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively;
Experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.) strongly desired;
Knowledge of Adobe CS5 Suite, CiviCRM and Drupal a plus;
Strong knowledge of web design, HTML and CSS;
Excellent photography and videography skills; and
Knowledge of NDI a plus.
