Journalism Job

Media Organization: Bustle.com

Company Description

Bustle.com is a new force in media: a news, entertainment, lifestyle, and fashion site for young women driven by a diverse and energetic collection of contributors. What we have in common with each other and our readers is that we're insatiably curious about the world. We care about what's working and what isn't, about fashion, politics, technology, diversity, books, celebrities, health, beauty, work, sex, friendship, and how to make amazing food on a budget. These are the stories we deliver every day in a format that's always getting better, quicker, and more engaging.

Job Description

Bustle is looking for an Associate News Editor to specialize in overnight coverage. Hours would be somewhat flexible, but would be roughly 11 pm to 7 am Monday through Friday, or Sunday through Thursday. The editor will primarily write breaking world and national news stories, and entertainment and celebrity news stories. The editor will also cover the occasional breaking fashion, beauty, and/or lifestyle news topic. From Twitter trends to memes to politics to video games to celebrity births to a hot-button issue raised during a late night talk show, the editor will have his/her finger on the pulse of what is happening right then and there.

This is primarily a blogging position, however, the editor may work with other writers sporadically, so past editing and management experience is a bonus. The editor will publish between 7-12 articles per night, so flexibility, enthusiasm, and familiarity with Bustle's voice is a must.

The editor will work remotely, and Bustle is open to candidates internationally, especially in Australia and Asia.
