Media Organization: Whalebone Media

Company Description

Inspired by the East End of Long Island’s unique culture and lifestyle, Whalebone Media celebrates the authentic stories, events and happenings in a style that pleases the soul. The talented family at Whalebone maintains a steady pulse of the community and heritage of the east end with an appreciation of what is, what was, and what can be.

WHAT THE IS THIS THING, REALLY?

Simply put, we are establishing a hybrid brand and media company. The longer answer is that Whalebone is a project that will spawn your new favorite media channel complete with fresh digital content every day, a killer print publication, legendary events, and the best social feed in New York. For the past 4 years, Whalebone Media’s sister company, Whalebone Creative, has established itself as the leading apparel brand to come out of East End.

Job Description

We are looking for writers who are motivated above anything. Writers who see the value in being published, getting on board with a really cool publication from it's inception and who want to capitalize on those opportunities on a regular basis through Whalebone.

We need writers and contributors who can articulate a story in a way that is concise, digestible and creative to keep the attention of our readers, who have proven to have short attention spans. Using the stories they create to keep readers coming back for more and engaged in what we put out. There are so many ways to tell a story and we want our contributors to see that! Creating stories that are short, easy reads by breaking them up in creative ways, making the tone of the stories conversational and casual, yet engaging and informational. Finding the balance between traditional communication and the idea we have adopted in Immersive Media, while keeping a steady pulse on the local communities here on the east end and in NYC.
