Job Description

Seeking enterprising reporter – Wilmington, Delaware

USA TODAY NETWORK/Gannett Co., Inc.

The News Journal, a statewide news organization covering Delaware, has an immediate opening for a watchdog reporter covering Wilmington.

This journalist will carry out one of our core public service missions: To protect reader interests, uncover wrongdoing and provide compelling context and analysis to our audience on various platforms. The beat is Delaware’s largest city, covering the mayor’s office, City Council and well-known members of the community.

This reporter will focus on telling readers why and how events in Wilmington have ripples throughout the state.

We’re looking for a passionate and versatile reporter who routinely breaks hard-hitting news, has a wealth of enterprise ideas and can coordinate complex short- and long-term in-depth projects.

Experience with databases, multimedia tools and public document requests is expected. Strong organizational skills and a competitive and collaborative spirit are musts.
