Job Description

Engadget is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic freelance news desk operator to join our team. Operators are Engadget's front line defense against the constant stream of incoming news. Their job is to parse incoming information from Twitter, wire services, PR blasts and the Engadget tips box in real time and direct it to the appropriate person(s) on staff.

The ideal candidate will be well versed in technology and science, be able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and keep up in a busy newsroom.

As a freelance news desk operator, candidates will be responsible for monitoring a host of news sources and communicating regularly with the news desk editors. Operators will identify potential stories and bring them to news editors for additional vetting, discussion of relevant angles and to identify important context.
