Reporter – community watchdog reporter
The News-Press and in Fort Myers, FL seeks an experienced community watchdog reporter to cover the city and residents of Cape Coral, FL, one of the fastest growing communities in the U.S.
The ideal candidate is a storyteller, skilled in data analysis and document acquisition, who is passionate about hard news and enterprise journalism from the ground up.
Candidates should have at least two years of professional journalism experience, strong reporting and writing skills, social media skills and the ability to shoot and tell video stories.
Cape Coral and Fort Myers are located in sunny paradise, along the Gulf of Mexico coast in Southwest Florida, with beautiful beaches and gorgeous sunsets – and an easy, two-hour drive to metro Miami or metro Tampa. The area is spring-training home to two major league baseball teams and is known for its water recreation and world renowned wildlife sanctuaries.
The News-Press journalists have recently been honored with national Edward R. Murrow awards for outstanding video storytelling, as well as state and USA TODAY Network awards for writing, investigative journalism and community engagement.
