Media Organization: Moxie Firecracker Films
After independently directing and producing their own groundbreaking and award-winning documentary films, filmmakers Liz Garbus and Rory Kennedy co-founded Moxie Firecracker Films in 1998. Since then they have gone on to create some of the most challenging and debated films in their field, becoming well-known names in broadcast journalism and entertainment. Their films cover human rights issues, broader social ills, and extraordinary individuals who have greatly influenced their era.
Moxie Firecracker Films produces documentaries for broadcast and cable networks, including HBO, A&E, MTV, TLC, Lifetime Television, The Oxygen Network, Court TV, Showtime, Discovery Channel, Channel 4 UK, and The Sundance Channel, as well as for educational foundations and grant–makers. Their films have gone on to win Emmy awards, Academy Award nominations, and numerous film festival awards. In 2010, Garbus and Kennedy were honored with the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival Career Award.
Liz Garbus' production company, Moxie Firecracker Films, is looking for 1-2 research interns for the Fall semester 2 days/week each.
Interns will be exposed to all aspects of documentary research, pre-production and post-production. Bonus: An intern with legal experience.
Resumes can be sent to Rebecca Stern at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be conducting interviews in August for September.
