Job Description

Weather.com is seeking a creative, analytics-savvy engagement editor to write headlines, send push alerts, brand live coverage, pitch storiesĀ and help guide the creative process for content across all of its platforms.

The ideal candidate is competitive, loves analyzing metrics/numbers and is a good communicator capable of picking up on trends found in metrics and translating them to innovative story ideas and witty headlines.

On occasion, you may be asked to write/cover breaking news, though it will not be your primary focus.

A journalism/news background is recommended, but any/all applicants who feel like the job description fits are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants should expect to work nights and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Update the mobile apps and websites with engaging posts.

Send engaging push alerts.

Help identify the stories that will resonate the most with our audience.

Pitch and produce stories for platform-specific audiences.

Respond to breaking news.

Quickly create, rewrite and aggregate content.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to craft headlines that engage readers.

Knowledge of SEO best practices.

Sharp writing and editing skills.

Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.

High comfort level with various content management systems.

Weather and science knowledge.

Understanding of web analytics.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 2-4 years experience. Experience writing headlines is a plus.

Experience in breaking news environment a double plus.
