The Soufan Center (TSC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving as a resource and forum for research, analysis, and strategic dialogue related to global security issues and emergent threats. TSC fills a niche-role by producing independent, quality research and hosting proactive conversations in order to effectively equip thought leaders, policy makers, governments, bi- and multilateral institutions, media, and those in the non-profit and academic communities to engage in strategic security-related practices. Our work focuses on a broad range of complex security issues—from international and domestic terrorism, to humanitarian crisis analysis, to refugee and immigrant issues, and more.

Job Description

TSC is seeking a full-time intern to support the team in the strategic planning, execution and optimization of digital campaigns to raise awareness of TSC research, events, and policy impact. This is a 10-week, paid summer internship where students or recent graduates get to experience firsthand working at a think-tank

Duties and Responsibilities: Daily responsibilities will vary and include, but are not limited to:

• Support work on digital campaigns
• Monitor, analyze, and facilitate TSC’s digital presence
• Analyze campaign results and provide post-campaign reports to assist TSC for future marketing decisions
• Develop digital assets (email, webpages, social media content etc.)
• Research and write content for social media channels and provide ideas for posts and promotions that increase engagement on our channels and grow our following
• Provide editorial support for TSC’s products and outreach, including: research, fact-checking, sourcing photographs, and publishing to TSC’s social media channels and website
• Assist with keeping TSC’s media database up to date, journalist and media outlet research projects, media coverage reporting and press outreach
• Produce graphs, figures, tables, maps, and other imagery to accompany and support TSC reports, research, and other products
• Assist with photo research and selection for our website, blog and social channels
• Provide support for digital fundraising campaigns and promotions aimed at increasing TSC’s online donor base.

Requirements:

• In pursuit of, or completed, a master’s degree or higher
• Must be in good academic standing, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or the equivalent
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be able to work on-site in our New York office
• Must speak, read, and write English at a level of native speaker
• Other language skills that are desirable, but not required include: Arabic, Chinese, French, Persian, and Urdu
• Professional experience in media or technology industry is a plus
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud is desirable
• Knowledge of programming in GIS is a plus

• Excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritize, work effectively, and produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
