Media Organization: Catholic Charities of New York

Company Description

Catholic Charities helps solve the problems of New Yorkers in need -- non-Catholics and Catholics alike.
The neglected child, the homeless family and the hungry senior are among those for whom we provide help and create hope. We rebuild lives and touch almost every human need promptly, locally, day in and day out, always with compassion and dignity.
We help your neighbors as you would like to be helped if your family were in need.

Job Description

We are looking for volunteer writers to assist with telling the stories of individuals we serve, to be used for publication in different media channels, including local and global newspapers and other outlets.

Writers will assist Catholic Charities staff with sharing our clients' stories. Catholic Charities helps a wide range of clients on issues ranging from immigration, to hunger, to housing, to youth services, and more. These stories will be shared with the greater public.

The writer will:
• Report high-quality client profiles for publication.
• Interview programs, agencies, and clients in-person, providing context and color to stories.
• Photograph clients to accompany profiles (this is not mandatory; we can find a photographer if you prefer to just write).
• Working knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

We are looking for someone who is interested in starting immediately.

To Apply

If you are interested, please send a resume and writing sample to Amaris White (amaris.white@archny.org). We will contact an interview all qualified applicants.
