Job Description

The Multimedia Division at Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking undergraduate and graduate students in journalism, film, or related fields to be Multimedia interns for the Spring 2020 semester in the New York office. Ideally, the candidate will be available for a minimum of 16 hours per week for 4 months - timing can be flexible.

This program is designed for students interested in a human rights or journalism career who hope to acquire training and hands-on experience in video production. Under close supervision of the Multimedia team, interns will have an opportunity be involved in every step of the production process. Projects may include transcribing interviews, searching archives for footage, conducting research, subtitling footage, editing photos and using video and photo editing software.

Students will also have opportunities to attend lectures, trainings, professional development workshops, and/or special events relating to human rights, as well as network with other HRW interns, volunteers, and employees. As an HRW intern, students will take skills acquired in school and apply them in a professional setting.
