The Economist is a weekly-magazine styled newspaper established in 1843. To date, the average weekly circulation world wide is more than 1.3 million.

What ties us together is the objectivity of our opinion, the originality of our insight and our advocacy of economic and political freedom around the world.
The Economist is now accepting applicants for the 2020 Marjorie Deane internship. Interns will spend three to four months working beside writers and researchers in The Economist’s New York bureau. This is a paid internship, funded by the Marjorie Deane Financial Journalism Foundation.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Creative thinking: brainstorm and present article ideas to pitch to editors and writing approved pitches
Research: Conduct independent research and interviews for articles
Collaboration: Participating in weekly meetings with New York’s editorial staff
Relationship building: Occasionally collaborate with other writers on articles they may be working on
Applicants are asked to write a cover letter and an original article of no more than 500 words suitable for publication in The Economist’s Business or Finance and Economics section.
