Job Description

Medium is expanding its editorial team. For summer 2020, we are looking for a critical addition to the editorial staff of our publication focused on personal development—an intern who will work closely with the team in growing and evolving Forge as a brand. This intern will have a strong curiosity about the questions people want to answer to improve their lives at work, at home, and elsewhere. This person is fascinated by the question of what it means to live, work, and be better, and eager to think innovatively about what personal development can be.

The Work
Provide support to Forge's team of editors.
Participate in brainstorming sessions around content creation.
Write, research, and report.
Produce and post stories to the website.
Analyze and report data.

Basic knowledge in research and reporting.
Strong desire to enter the field of journalism with curiosity about the work we do.
Passion for helping readers understand and improve their lives, and excited by creative approaches to service journalism.
Detail-focused, hard-working, curious, and collaborative mindsets.
Passion for world-class content and making sure it reaches the right people.
Self-starter attitudes; you can take an assignment and run with it.
Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively.
Comfortable working in a startup environment, where speed, flexibility, and experimentation are part of the day-to-day.
An ideas machine, tuned into the zeitgeist and able to spot stories within larger conversations.

About Our Summer Intern Program
Our internships are paid.
This intern doesn't have to be a college student/have to have attended college to apply.
This internship is approximately 40 hours/week Monday-Friday.
Internships begin on or around June 7, 2020, and will last for 10 weeks.
This intern will be working out of our NY Office. Located in Union Square.
Start and end dates are flexible within 1-2 weeks should your university schedule interfere with our dates.

This position is based in New York.
