Job Description

The role of associate engagement editor (weekends) is to manage weekend editorial newsletter sends and social promotion for Inc. and Fast Company. The associate engagement editor (weekends) has an editorial background and uses a data-driven approach to selecting stories and writing social copy. This position is part of the Digital Growth team, which is responsible for social media, newsletters, search, partnerships, and other audience development initiatives across both Inc. and Fast Company. This is a part-time (15-20 hours per week) 6-month contract position, with a possibility to extend.

What You’ll Be Doing
-Manage weekend newsletter sends by assembling stories, selecting and editing subject lines and newsletter copy
-Manage weekend social promotion by sharing news stories and other recently published articles on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn; creating and pitching Twitter threads; and posting on other platforms as needed
-As needed, assist in headline writing, analytics, pitching, content recommendations, fact-checking, data gathering, and other audience development tasks

What We’re Looking For
-Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, business, or a related field preferred
-Prior editorial, newsletter, or social media experience
Strong news judgment and interest in journalism and business topics
-Extremely organized and detail-oriented, with a keen eye for spelling and grammar
-Comfortable with Excel, various analytics platforms, and experience making data-driven decisions
-Ability to learn and adopt both Inc. and Fast Company's brand voices

Schedule
-This is a part-time position (15-20 hours/week)
-The hours are somewhat flexible but must include Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons (East Coast Time), being available if news breaks on the weekend, a few hours on Fridays, and sometimes mid-week tasks, as needed.

Location
Fast Company/Inc. offices are located in New York City, but this position does not require you to work in the office.
