Media Organization: Debtwire, an Acuris company through ION Group

Company Description

Debtwire produces real-time news, analysis and data on the global credit markets. Subscribers choose Debtwire for speed and depth of coverage they can’t get anywhere else. Our reporters around the globe talk to an impressive range of contacts every day to bring subscribers valuable early insight into fast evolving situations. To complement a subscriber's newsfeed, Debtwire’s credit analysis, legal and data teams highlight deep technical details and angles that help market participants understand situations with a wide angle lens.

Job Description

Debtwire North America's team of experienced financial journalists identify stressed, distressed, bankrupt and post restructuring situations within the high yield bond and leveraged loan markets. We then focus on providing actionable intelligence for readers on the latest advisory engagements, liability management strategies, operational performance and inter-creditor negotiations.

The Investigative Capital Markets Reporter will cover the leveraged finance markets across multiple industries. Our editorial approach is credit-specific rather than market-wide, and we routinely break news in the restructuring, distressed and primary issuance markets. We're looking for individuals who are adept at building a network of contacts to deliver exclusive, source-driven copy. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing skills and a drive to break news on this fast-paced, real-time beat. Determination to beat the competition and succeed is more important than experience. You will be trained by our market-leading team to become a well-connected sector expert who delivers high impact reporting every day.

Responsibilities
-Ongoing source development: staying in touch with market contacts and cold calling to make new connections
-Uncovering market-moving intel: mandates, investment strategies, deal negotiations, private financials
-Staying aware of and responding to public market events of relevance such as key earnings announcements, regulatory disclosures, litigations, conference calls, Ch. 11 filings
-Teamwork: confirming leads of your colleagues, and helping get news leads outside of your designated beat
-Analytical thinking: Editorial content also delves into detailed analysis of recovery scenarios, relative value and buyside strategy

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
-0-5 years of experience working in a fast-paced newsroom and the desire to break news
-Ability to write clean, accurate copy under tight deadline pressure
-Knack for networking and source building
-Strong organizational and time management skills
