The Team
Based in Hong Kong, Forkast.News supports a growing team across Asia, Europe, and the U.S. The team is led by Editor-in-Chief Angie Lau, a 20+ year veteran journalist most recognized for her role as Bloomberg TV's lead anchor in Asia, with her flagship morning show "First Up with Angie Lau."

Job Description

Forkast.News is hiring a Social Media Freelancer/Intern to join our growing editorial team. This is an opportunity to work closely with our social media lead to build engagement with our audience across multimedia channels for print, video, and podcast. This role will be cross-functional and gain exposure to many aspects of content production, editorial, graphic design, and audience engagement.

Forkast.News speaks to an audience of professionals and corporate decision-makers who are interested in developing a point of view on blockchain technology, digital assets, and web 3.0. You do not need to be an expert in blockchain or crypto, but any interest or background is a strong bonus – there will be many opportunities to gain experience and access to what's happening in blockchain, crypto, and digital transformation. Having the curiosity and drive to get a better understanding of how an audience wants to engage with content is key.

Freelancers are encouraged to apply. For students, this role can also be an internship for the fall and winter semesters. The position is remote, and applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Job Duties

Work alongside the Head of Audience Engagement to develop and execute strategies for growing audiences on social media channels

Manage the daily output on Forkast’s social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and more

Produce social media content (digital print, video, audio) across multiple platforms

Create and execute promotional plans for editorial campaigns, projects and events, providing live coverage during breaking news events

Monitor, track, analyze and report on performance on social channels

Assist team to use traffic / engagement data as the basis of decision-making, including A/B testing

Qualifications

1-2 years experience managing different social media platforms

Good knowledge of cryptocurrencies and blockchain

Thrives in a fast-paced, decentralized startup environment – hungry and willing to roll up your sleeves

Good news instinct and judgment

Strong communication (written and verbal English)

Knowledge or ability to learn design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Illustrator, Premiere)

Understanding of SEO and impact of headlines / keywords on engagement, with experience with tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Moz, is a bonus

Good intuition for editorial product and brand

Interest in working in a digital publishing team to drive growth and audience outcomes

Attention to detail; Creative and resourceful
