It is dedicated to high-quality, in-depth coverage of Jersey City’s people, neighborhoods, politics, schools, businesses, culture, and cuisine.

The Jersey City Times employs four part-time freelance writers and has an advisory board of experienced journalists.

In just two years, The Jersey City Times has garnered a large following and played an important role in informing the public on pressing, under-reported issues in New Jersey’s fastest growing and second largest city.

Job Description

The Jersey City Times is looking for a part-time investigative reporter to work on stories involving municipal finances and policy, education, poverty, race and crime.

Applicants should have a passion for uncovering wrongdoing and governmental malfeasance.

The job will require substantial research and analysis both through developing sources and gathering publicly available information through the Open Public Records Act (OPRA).

This is a great opportunity for a newly-minted journalist interested in reporting on the most pressing issues affecting urban America.
