Job Description
Americas Society and Council of the Americas (AS/COA) seek an editorial associate with demonstrated digital media experience and knowledge of Latin America to join AS/COA Online, the team of our website (as-coa.org). In addition to bringing experience crafting social media and online content, the person should be able to manage competing demands across departments and three U.S. offices.

The role will be based in our New York headquarters.

Key responsibilities
Editorial: Write and produce content for AS/COA Online, such as explainers, updates, infographics and trackers, Q&As, video pages, and podcasts. Support first edits, copyedits, and proofing of website content.
Website updates and CMS management: Make updates to homepage and content across the site, troubleshooting website bugs.
Social media: Promote, create graphics and clips, and post content about AS/COA’s publications and events to organizations’ main social media profiles. Play a central role in AS/COA’s social media strategy and staying informed of best social media practices across platforms.
Photo research: Conduct photo research for licensed images to accompany AS/COA content and events, and provide photo selection and editing support to other departments.
External communications: Support programs teams’ content needs by copyediting event and conference descriptions, with an eye to consistency and SEO best practices. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to promote priority public events and broadcasts.
Qualifications
Minimum two years professional experience with online media, editing, and updating web content. Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style preferred.
Excellent English-language writing and editing skills. Written and verbal Spanish skills strongly preferred. Knowledge of Latin America, especially South America, preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of social media, particularly when it comes to increasing followers and engagement, community management, and creating effective marketing tools. Extensive experience with Twitter and LinkedIn a plus.
Experience with Adobe CS, Mailchimp, Canva, Slack, task management tools such as Trello, basic HTML, and data visualization tools such as Infogram. Audio and video editing experience a plus.
Ability to meet deadlines, communicate progress, and be detail oriented a must.
BA or MA in journalism, communications, or other relevant field.
