Job Description

The Associate Editor supports the Editorial Director of Custom Media by creating and editing articles designed to support our clients, who are hospitals and hospital systems. Articles will appear in print, on the web or digitally. Video shooting/editing capability highly desirable. Respondents should have 2 or more years of experience in custom publishing. This editorial position reports to the Editorial Director of Custom Media.

• Writing and reporting: approximately 75% of the time.
o Writing assignments for clinical (and sometimes consumer) audiences
o Edit medical content into engaging articles
o Conduct interviews with physicians
o Interact with physicians and custom media clients
o Set up/shoot/edit videos using 1 or 2 camera angles
o AP style
o Suggest topics for coverage

• Remainder of time (25%) will be comprised of diverse editorial duties, including:
o Posting finalized articles onto websites
o Keep managing editors abreast of workflow, as needed
o Collaborate with sales, copyediting, graphic design, and production departments, as needed
o Efficiently manage multiple assignments
o Develop good working knowledge of InCopy/InDesign
o Occasional domestic travel to hospital clients, if necessary
o Fact-check, rarely
