Job Description

NOTICE News, a new progressive news startup aimed at bringing news and information to a new generation of global citizens, is hiring a part-time, contract producer and host for TikTok and other social platforms. We’re looking for someone who can write, produce, and host TikTok videos and other vertical platforms. This person should be comfortable with day-of news, from crime to entertainment, but also feel comfortable doing more in-depth analysis—as in-depth as we can get in 45 seconds! This is an amazing opportunity for an early-career journalist to be part of a growing news organization on camera from the ground up. We reach over 500k subscribers on Snapchat and over 130k followers on TikTok—and we’re growing daily!

You are:
- An early career journalist eager to get your feet wet producing and hosting social media content for a start-up news organization.
- A quick learner and a fast writer, able to synthesize information cohesively
- Comfortable hosting short videos on camera
- Able to work two weekdays a week from our Brooklyn, New York office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (We’re somewhat flexible on the days.)

You will:
- Write, produce, and host 2-3 short videos for TikTok and other vertical video platforms per shift
- Research and pitch stories of interest and importance to our audience
- Work closely with producing staff and leadership to craft our voice and look
- Be ready to dive into every story quickly and completely
- Create the future of journalism

You have:
- Experience creating vertical video content, either for yourself or a brand
- On camera hosting experience
- A Bachelor's degree in journalism or libral arts or nearing graduation
- An active social media following across platforms
- A deep understanding of Instagram, TikTok and Twitter
- A desire to work in a fast-paced, fun yet challenging environment as a ground-floor team member

This is a part-time, freelance position with the opportunity to take on more hours for the right candidate. This is not a remote job, you must be willing to come to our office in Brooklyn at least twice per week. The base pay for this role is $40/hour at 20 hours a week.
