Paid Journalism Internship

Media Organization: New York Daily News

Company Description

Since 1919, the New York Daily News has been serving the working people of New York. Our mission is to deliver the truth every day. We are here to tell stories about New York city and its people: people helping other people, hurting other people. Powerful people failing to serve the rest of us. Regular people trying to make it every day. The Daily News' Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism works to protect your interests and help navigate your daily life.

Job Description

The New York Daily News is seeking part-time interns to cover breaking local news. You will be covering the biggest breaking news in person in all five boroughs and sometimes beyond, visiting crime scenes, knocking on doors, attending press conferences and more. This is not an office-based or work-from-home job. You will be learning the basics of shoe leather reporting, talking to witnesses and grieving families in person, covering court appearances and funerals, and also creatively mining social media and online databases to uncover leads. You will be expected to email clear well-written notes on tight deadlines and will likely end up getting bylines on front page stories! You will also be encouraged to pitch feature stories.

To Apply

Please email a resume to Barry Paddock (bpaddock@nydailynews.com) and feel free to include a cover letter. Please put "internship application" in your subject line.
