The Outreach, Education and Engagement (https://www.simonsfoundation.org/outreach/) (OEE) department is looking for a motivated intern for the summer of 2023. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual interested in developing a career in science engagement. This individual will gain insight into aspects of public event programming, grantmaking and audience development, with a specific focus on supporting the groundwork for a national program centered around the total eclipse of the sun in 2024.

This paid internship will take place on-site at the Simons Foundation offices from June through August. There will be occasional evening work - approximately once a month.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

•Assist the OEE team with the coordination of a new national program of work centered around the eclipse in 2024, including researching towns on the path of totality, coordinating grant application reviewing and contributing to the communications plan by writing articles and other materials for the website.
•Assist with in-person OEE public events, including operational planning, delivery and evaluation.
•Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•Enrollment in or completion of a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field
•Strong interest in science and/or math
•Must be detail-oriented, deadline-driven and highly organized
•Must be an excellent team player
•Software proficient and eager to learn new platforms - must be conversant in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint

COMPENSATION

•This internship pays $20 to $22 per hour, depending on experience.
