Job Description

The New York Amsterdam News has immediate openings for copy editors to join our publication with both print and digital responsibilities. This is a part-time position, meant for working remotely one to two full days a week, plus some additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities:

Edit articles, write headlines, edit and rewrite captions, proofread pages

Skills & Experience:

At least 3-4 years of experience with a proven ability in writing, editing copy and writing headlines: command of AP style and grammar a must

Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

Demonstrated success working in a deadline-driven environment

Ability to work independently as needed and prioritize multiple tasks appropriately

Experience with Adobe InDesign suite and Photoshop, and Google Drive among digital skills needed; ability to design and execute graphics a plus

Compensation:
$25-$30 per hour based on experience
